Day 15

Got up this morning to wet roads but no rain falling.. Rushed out to catch the 8 am ferry from Pictou to Wood Islands, PEI. It's a 1 hr 15 min ride. I had a great Islander's Special breakfast on board. I find people here are so friendly, especially when they see the MB plate. They want to know where you are going.. etc. Being shy, I have a real problem talking to them.... lol

When I got off the ferry I made an imediate right and followed the highway that runs along the shoreline. It's a really neat ride with lots to see. Lighthouses are in abundance as are fishing harbours. You could fill up a memory card on your camera extremely fast. Eventually, I ended  up at the East Point which is the furthest east you can go. Then I rode down the north coast where the ride is off the water. Lots of potato fields were on this side. By the way, everything turns red here that sees a dirt road so never take your white car down a dirt road here. There are lots of them and some sights I could not see because I don't want a red Harley. I eventually rode the Gulf Shore Parkway that takes you through the PEI National Park along the Dalvay Beach. A very nice place. I rode through the highlands where you see names of towns like New Glasgow, New London, Kensington... I take it this was a British area at some point? When I got to Summerside, I turned onto Hwy 2 and went pretty well as far as you can go to Tignish. Just beyond the town I checked into the Islands End Motel. After checkin I went up to the North Cape where there is a wind generating test site and visitors centre. In this centre there is a restaurant... Steak and Lobster, Oh So Good.
